The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruitment, placement, coordination, and support of 80-100 volunteer tutors, primarily from the University of Notre Dame, as well as other local colleges or universities and the general community. These volunteer tutors work with 65 youth, grades 1-12 in the Youth Development Afterschool Program at the Robinson Community Learning Center. This position provides direct supervision of tutors and general oversight of the overall tutoring program. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supervising tutors; matching tutors to youth participants, administering pre-posts tests to youth participants, providing tutoring materials and lesson plans that align to state standards, collecting and maintaining attendance and assessment data. Administering end of term surveys to tutors, and conducting reflection sessions. This position attends multiple volunteer recruitment events at ND and other local colleges, and serves as RCLC liaison for faculty members whose students are serving as volunteers in RCLC programs.
Responsibilities include:
1. Work directly with the RCLC Youth Development Afterschool Tutoring Program by supervising the 65 students and 80-120 tutors four afternoons per week to ensure that each youth participant receives an hour of tutoring.
2. Recruit 80-100 tutors each semester, which includes developing recruitment materials and attending student activities nights. Maintain ongoing communication with tutors, match tutors with children one-on-one, develop program-wide tutoring schedule, and evaluate tutor performance. Provide orientation, training, and reflection sessions for tutors and survey tutors semi-annually.
3. Train tutors to implement pre-post literacy assessment to youth participants to identify learning goals for each child. Work with Youth Development Program Director to provide daily tutoring materials that address identified individuals’ goals and align to state standards. Maintain database of children’s attendance and pre-post scores, and help with assessment of children’s academic progress.
4. Serve as RCLC liaison for faculty members whose students are serving as volunteers in RCLC programs.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma.
1-2 years work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with people from a diversity of class, race, education backgrounds, ethnicity, etc.
Experience working with college student volunteers and youth.
Experience working with youth, grades 1-12.
Computer knowledge, word processing and database skills. Proficiency with Google Suite and social media.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
